The silent power of the essential
A Timeless Bestiary, Between Ancestral Memory and Suspended Presence

My bestiary explores memory and the ancestral bond between human beings and the animal world. Born in Iran, I move between a cultural memory shaped by ancient representations of the natural world and a contemporary approach to sculpture. I am not concerned with faithful representation. Instead, I gradually develop a language of my own, transforming each animal into an imagined figure. Through this process, I seek out essential forms in which the animal is suggested rather than reproduced, revealing what makes it unique beyond its outward appearance.

Stillness lies at the heart of my work. My animals are often held in moments of calm, silence or waiting, rarely caught in dramatic movement. This pause allows me to bring together qualities that might seem contradictory: strength and fragility, pride and gentleness, presence and restraint. From this balance emerges a quiet poetry, in which the animal’s power remains palpable yet contained.

Through simplification and abstraction, I move away from the actual animal towards something more universal. I seek forms that embody its strength, bearing and essence rather than simply depicting it. My sculptures exist somewhere between recognition and ambiguity. Some remain close to direct observation, while others take on an almost archetypal quality. It is within this tension between figuration and abstraction that my interest in stillness unfolds. A posture suspends time, allowing an inner energy to emerge without ever being fully released.

The animal tells no specific story. Instead, it becomes a space for personal interpretation, where each viewer may encounter a different emotion: strength or vulnerability, pride or unease, serenity or tension. This openness allows my sculptures to move beyond representation and touch something more intimate and universal.
